No team can find success in today’s game without an elite quarterback, and the latest NFL champions can attest to that.
A solid running game and a good defense can take you to the Super Bowl, but it will mostly hang on the quarterback’s shoulders to get the job done in one-and-done matchups.
With that in mind, former Super Bowl champion Plaxico Burress took to “The Carton Show” to name his top-five quarterbacks in the league right now, and there were no surprises.

1. Patrick Mahomes
2. Joe Burrow
3. Justin Herbert
4. Josh Allen

Notably, he snubbed Lamar Jackson and Aaron Rodgers and gave the fifth spot to Jalen Hurts instead.
Hurts was an MVP candidate last season, and he was also the most improved player in the league by a landslide.
Burress later chose Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen, a physical specimen who can also run the football and probably has the strongest arm in the league right now.
No. 3 was a bit of a surprising pick with Justin Herbert, perhaps the most athletic QB in the game and a guy with a sky-high upside who has yet to reach his peak with his team.
Then, he talked about Joe Burrow, who’s been the main reason behind the Cincinnati Bengals’ epic franchise turnaround, and perhaps the only player who can feel confident about himself when he takes on the Kansas City Chiefs.
Unsurprisingly, he took future Hall-of-Famer Patrick Mahomes at No. 1, as he’s the undisputed best quarterback in the league right now, which is even said by his very own colleagues.
