The Carolina Panthers are entering a new era.
Dave Canales will take the reins ahead of the upcoming campaign, and the fans will definitely hope he gets a chance to build and develop his project there.
That wasn’t the case with Frank Reich, who left a lot to be desired in his lone season in charge of the team, being fired midway through the campaign.
However, as poorly as he fared in that first season, it’s not easy for a first-year player to be at his best under those circumstances.
Considering that, former Panthers star WR Steve Smith Sr. talked to Robert Griffin III about how the situation was far from ideal for the former No. 1 pick.
“A smart kid can look dumb if he’s around a lot of dumb people,” Smith said.

He agreed that he thought Young was the go-to guy for the team, adding that even though CJ Stroud is obviously a great player as well, he thought Bryce’s processing was faster.
Then, he added that a smart kid could look dumb if he’s surrounded by dumb people, taking a big shot at the previous coaching staff.
That makes sense.
Young didn’t look good at all in his first season, and several missed throws weren’t to blame on the coaching staff.
There were also worrisome reports about him struggling to get a hold of the playbook.
Then again, not many players are able to thrive right away, and people shouldn’t rush to count him out after struggling in his first campaign.
There will always be growing pains, and the fans hope he’ll be able to overcome them.
