The Golden State Warriors are heading into the 2023-24 NBA season with high hopes of being a legitimate title contender once again after making some moves in the offseason that made them a much smarter team on the basketball floor.
After getting beat by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the NBA playoffs last season, the team’s front office knew that some changes had to be made, and as a result, the team traded Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Chris Paul.
The addition of Paul instantly makes the Warriors a very high-IQ squad and deep in the backcourt with Hall-of-Fame talent at both positions.
Along with bringing in Paul, the Warriors drafted Brandin Podziemski at No. 19 overall in the NBA Draft and brought in veteran journeyman Dario Saric, who received high praise from head coach Steve Kerr this week via Warriors on NBCS.

Even though the Warriors may be a “high-IQ team,” as Kerr said, it remains to be seen if this squad filled with veterans and young players will be able to contend with the best of the best in the Western Conference.
The Denver Nuggets are the team to beat heading into the regular season for obvious reasons, while the Phoenix Suns reloaded with Bradley Beal and the Lakers made some of the best moves over the summer.
Golden State won’t have an easy path to the NBA Finals by any means, as Stephen Curry and company will be facing perhaps their toughest challenge during their dynasty to compete with the league’s elite.
