The Houston Rockets are on the rise, according to Stephen A. Smith.
On Monday morning, Smith gave a lengthy, passionate monologue about the Rockets on his show, telling viewers that the team is one to watch and only getting better.
Praising head coach Ime Udoka, Smith noted that the Rockets are 10-1 in the month of March, have won eight straight games, have the lowest turnover percentage in the league, and have the fastest pace too.
He believes that they could make some serious noise for the rest of the regular season, and beyond.
It’s been a long time coming for the Rockets.
They were an absolute mess last season and ended 2022-23 with a 22-60 record, earning only the 14th seed in the West.
Following that horrible season, they fired their old head coach and hired Udoka in the summer.
Udoka was coming off a major controversy and there were many criticisms of the hiring.
However, nearly everyone believed that Udoka is a skilled coach who could lead the Rockets to new levels.
That is exactly what he has done.
Although the season got off to a slow start for the Rockets, they have been looking better and better over the last few weeks.
With that being said, they are still the 11th seed in the West, which means they are currently out of contention for the playoffs.
But if they continue to surge as they have been, they could surpass the Golden State Warriors and earn a ticket to the Play-In Tournament.
And even if they don’t, it’s now very clear that this team is special and may only get better in the next few seasons.
The Rockets are really starting to take off.
