The New York Knicks are having a surprisingly good season.
They currently sit in fifth place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 36-27.
If you are looking for a reason for their success, look no further than the play of Jalen Brunson.
The Knicks signed Brunson away from the Dallas Mavericks in free agency.
That move is looking like one of the best of the offseason.
Brunson has been awesome this season, averaging 23.6 points, 6.2 assists, and 3.6 rebounds.
He and Julius Randle have been the two key cogs for the Knicks this year.
But, with how the Eastern Conference standings are shaking up, it appears like the Knicks will have a tough first-round matchup.
It is looking like New York will play the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round.
That means the Knicks will have to face a player they tried to acquire, Donovan Mitchell.
ESPN analyst and Knicks fan Stephen A Smith, would not be able to handle losing to Mitchell.
Donovan Mitchell better not send my @nyknicks home, or I will lose it! pic.twitter.com/Vr352WjurC

He was disappointed in the fact that the Knicks could not acquire Mitchell in the off-season.
Despite making a strong push for him, Mitchell ended up in Cleveland.
So it would be disappointing to lose in the playoffs to a player the Knicks could have had.
New York decided to hold onto R.J. Barrett and draft picks instead of adding them into a deal for Mitchell.
So to lose to him in the first round would be a tough pill to swallow.
Ultimately, the Knicks fan should be proud of how their team has played this season, but they have more work to do.
