A recent report by Andrew Marchand of The New York Post revealed that NFL legend Shannon Sharpe would join Stephen A. Smith on ESPN’s First Take.
It seemed like a seamless and somewhat logical fit, and some fans were excited and looking forward to it.
Unfortunately, Stephen A. had to put the brakes on the news and ask everybody not to get ahead of themselves, as there’s nothing official yet.

Smith made it loud and clear that he wants that to happen and will exhaust every means necessary to make it happen.
However, until Sharpe signs on that dotted line, it’s not official.
Stephen A. stated that Sharpe would be a tremendous asset for the show and expressed that he has nothing but the utmost respect for him, and it would be interesting to see him debate and go back-and-forth with him.
Ironically, Sharpe just agreed to a contract buyout to stop working with Skip Bayless, who was actually the main host of First Take before Stephen A. took over.
This will certainly be a story that is worth following as Sharpe has a large following and would bring another viewpoint to the popular debate show.
Whether that happens or not will remain to be seen.
