Signing safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to a contract extension was a no-brainer for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
After all, he just kept on making plays since he was traded by the Miami Dolphins to them.
In two full seasons with the Steelers, he missed only one game and had 203 total tackles.
The former Alabama standout also had 18 passes defended, six interceptions, and two forced fumbles.
Aside from covering opposing receivers, he is not afraid to deliver big hits to force incompletions.
At 25 years old, the Steelers know that his best years are still in front of him.
That’s why they locked him in long-term with a four-year, $73.6 million contract extension.
This deal makes him the highest-paid safety in the NFL, knocking off Jamal Adams from the top.
The contract includes $36 million in guaranteed money and a $17.5 million signing bonus.
Fitzpatrick will remain a Steeler until at least 2026 when the deal ends.
Therefore, quarterbacks from the other team better pay attention to where Minkah Magic is on the field.

The team released this hype video after Fitzpatrick signed on the dotted line.
It showed him delivering bone-crushing hits and completing game-changing interceptions.
Some of the quarterbacks he picked are Carson Wentz, Jimmy Garoppolo, Baker Mayfield, Joe Burrow, Jake Luton, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Jared Goff.
Steelers Keep Their Elite Defensive Unit
Fitzpatrick is part of a unit that has the capability of becoming a special crew.
Cameron Heyward will lead the push in the trenches together with Chris Wormley and Tyson Alualu.
Meanwhile, reigning Defensive Player of the Year T.J. Watt will generate pressure together with Devin Bush, Alex Highsmith, and Myles Jack.
Finally, Fitzpatrick will be primarily responsible for their pass defense, and he will get help from Levi Wallace, Terrell Edmunds, and Akhello Witherspoon.
There are no holes in the Steelers’ defense, making them difficult to crack.
