With the Pittsburgh Steelers needing to upgrade their offense during the NFL offseason, the team made three bold moves in order to give the squad a boost on that side of the football in hopes of lighting up the scoreboard during the 2024 season.
The storied franchise brought in veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, who was released by the Denver Broncos after consecutive disappointing seasons in the Mile High City.
After signing Wilson, Kenny Pickett requested a trade and was sent to the Philadelphia Eagles as the backup to superstar Jalen Hurts.
As a potential risk of not panning out, Pittsburgh also made a trade with the Chicago Bears to acquire Justin Fields, which is a move they might be thankful for right now since Wilson is on the mend with calf tightness, which resulted in him missing Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons.
Fortunately for the Steelers, Fields did enough in the season opener to secure the win over the Falcons, and now, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the young quarterback will be the starter once again in Week 2 against the Broncos.
The #Steelers are planning to start QB Justin Fields on Sunday once again, coach Mike Tomlin just told reporters.

Ironically, this is likely the one game that Wilson wanted to play more than any during his first season with the Steelers in hopes of getting some revenge against the Broncos, who he probably feels gave up on him too early.
However, he’s feeling better but not well enough to get back on the field, which is concerning for the team and an opportunity for Fields to make a case for securing the starting job for the rest of the season.
