The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to get younger and cheaper on the defensive line.
That’s why there might not be room for some of their veterans.
Notably, that became all the more evident when they announced that they were going to release eight-year veteran DT Montravius Adams.

Adams still had one year left on his contract.
However, with the team getting two defensive tackles in the 2025 NFL Draft, it’s hard to say this was a surprise.
Omar Khan and company took Oregon DT Derrick Harmon with the No. 21 selection, and they doubled down on the position with Iowa DT Yahya Black in the fifth round.
The 29-year-old Adams made 21 starts in his four seasons under Mike Tomlin’s tutelage, and he made 46 appearances overall.
Standing at 6-foot-4 and 304 pounds, he logged 72 tackles and one sack during his days in Pittsburgh.
The Green Bay Packers took him in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, and he spent four years in Green Bay before a brief tenure with the New Orleans Saints.
The Steelers later claimed him off waivers midway through the 2021 season.
The Steelers’ defensive front crumbled under pressure down the stretch last season.
They gave up nearly 300 rushing yards in the playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens, so it’s easy to understand why they put an emphasis on revamping that unit this season.
Even so, with no quarterback still on the roster, the fact that they chose to go with a defensive tackle in the first round instead of a signal-caller turned some heads.
