Once again, the Pittsburgh Steelers went heavy on defense in the NFL Draft.
That’s why there might not be room on the roster for one of their veterans.
According to a report by ESPN insider Adam Schefter, the Steelers have officially parted ways with DT Montravius Adams.

This comes on the heels of acquiring a couple of defensive linemen in the draft.
The Steelers took Oregon DE Derrick Harmon with the No. 21 selection instead of going with a running back or quarterback as some experts predicted.
Then, they doubled down by adding Iowa standout DL Yahya Black in the fifth round.
Both of them project to be more defensive ends than nose tackles, but their addition still made Adams the odd man out.
He backed up Keeanu Benton last season, and that spot might be up for grabs now.
The Steelers signed Adams midway through the 2021 campaign to address multiple injuries along the defensive line.
He made 46 appearances (21 starts) for Mike Tomlin’s team, and he will leave the franchise with 72 tackles, six tackles for a loss, and one sack.
Adams entered the league as a third-round pick by the Green Bay Packers in 2017, and he’s also spent time with the New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints.
Adams struggled to establish himself as a consistent pass rusher in Pittsburgh.
The team will now save $2.25 million in cap space and create a $875,000 dead-money charge.
He had signed a two-year deal worth $5 million at the end of the season after making 11 appearances and logging 14 tackles and one sack.
