Over the past three years or so, NBA fans have joked about Anthony Edwards being Michael Jordan’s unclaimed son.
The physical similarities are evident, and the Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard has clearly taken a couple of moves from Jordan’s repertoire.
Nonetheless, if we take a look at the numbers, and especially at the numbers in the postseason, it seems like Jordan has another player following his lead.
As shown by Evan Sidery on Twitter, Luka Doncic’s postseason numbers are pretty similar to Jordan’s.
Doncic has averaged 31.0 points, 9.4 rebounds, 8.3 assists, and 1.5 steals per game on a 56.9 true shooting percentage.
Jordan, on the other hand, averaged 33.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.7 dimes, and 2.1 steals on a 56.8 true shooting percentage.

Sidery adds that Doncic is becoming this era’s Jordan in the sense of postseason dominance.
Doncic was drafted in 2018, and, like Jordan, it didn’t take long before he took the league by storm.
He was also taken with the No. 3 pick, and he was also often banged up by the same physical rival in the playoffs.
Perhaps the Los Angeles Clippers were to him like the Detroit Pistons were to Jordan.
And now, Doncic also has his Scottie Pippen in Kyrie Irving.
Of course, every situation is unique, and there’s no point in comparing players from two different eras who don’t even have similar games.
But it’s starting to feel like people are taking Doncic and his numbers for granted, and there’s absolutely nothing ordinary about what he’s been able to do to start his career.
