The Denver Nuggets got off to a slow start to the season, but they’ve looked slightly better over the past couple of games.
Jamal Murray has been a shell of himself, and their perimeter defense took a huge step back without Kentavious Caldwell-Pope hounding players all over the court.
Nevertheless, even in the struggles, Nikola Jokic has been on an absolute tear this season.
As pointed out by Hoop Central on X, the former MVP has two 40-point games in the past five contests, and he’s scored at least 26 points in every single one of them.
Nikola Jokic over the last 5 games:
41 PTS – 9 REB – 4 AST – 53% FG
40 PTS – 10 REB – 4 AST – 66% FG
29 PTS – 18 REB – 16 AST – 56% FG
26 PTS – 9 REB – 13 AST – 50% FG
27 PTS – 16 REB – 9 AST – 55% FG pic.twitter.com/fWZJQGpk3Y— Hoop Central (@TheHoopCentral) November 3, 2024
He also has three games with 9+ assists, three double-doubles, and one triple-double during that span.
To make it even more impressive, he’s never shot fewer than 50% from the floor.
Through six games this season, Jokic is averaging 29.8 points, 12.3 rebounds, 9.8 assists, 1.5Â steals, 1.0 blocks, and 2.7 three-pointers.
He’s posting career highs all across the board, all while shooting 56% from the floor, 59% from beyond the arc, and 80% from the charity stripe.
Jokic has been a man on a mission from the very start of the season, taking matters into his own hands and stepping up as a scorer when his teammates struggle to find their groove.
The Nuggets need to iron a lot of things out to look like a championship contender again.
Still, Jokic is looking like the best player in the world right now, and with his ability to take over a game at any moment, it’s way too early to count his team out.
