According to insider Zac Stevens, Denver’s defense ranks in the top six of the league in many categories.
Those categories include points per game (15.3; ranks sixth), yards per game (259.3; ranks third), yards per play (4.73; ranks third), passing yards allowed per game (133; ranks second), fumble recoveries (2; tied for second), and sacks (11; tied for fifth).

After losing 26-20 to the Seattle Seahawks on the road in Week One, Denver’s defense has buttoned up.
They have allowed a combined 20 points over the last two weeks, but they finally had a breakout game against the previously unbeaten Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week.
Sean Payton’s defense held Baker Mayfield and Co. to just seven points and recorded a total of seven sacks.
They also won the turnover battle (2-1), which is key in any game.
If Denver’s defense continues to play this way and rookie quarterback Bo Nix can find his footing like he did last week, they might be a threat in the conference down the road.
However, the defense recently took a big hit to their unit.
Veteran linebacker inside Alex Singleton, who has recorded 120+ tackles in each of his last four NFL seasons, has torn his ACL and will be out for the rest of the year.
The team did make the move this week to sign former Pro Bowl linebacker Kwon Alexander, so time will tell to see if he can make an impact or not.
Next up for the Broncos is Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets this Sunday.
