The Pittsburgh Steelers and their defensive star are ready to get back on the field.
Cam Heyward finally got the deal he wanted, and while his decision to ask for a reworked deal sparked plenty of controversy among the fan base, the numbers were by his side.
At least, that’s what you can tell from PFF’s latest post.
They showed that Heyward actually led all defensive linemen in stops (44) and was second in PFF grade (90.1).

That would’ve been impressive for anybody, but much more for a player in his 14th year in the league.
It’s even crazier to think that there were rumblings about his retirement before the Steelers ultimately gave him the nod.
With his new contract, he can make up to $18 million this season.
He added over $3 million worth of incentives, so he should be extremely motivated to be even better in his 15th year in the league.
Heyward has spent his entire career in Pittsburgh, earning four All-Pro selections and seven Pro-Bowl nods.
That includes last season, when he earned his first First-Team All-Pro selection since 2021, which led to his demand for a reworked deal.
He’s also a team captain.
In 211 games, he’s recorded 718 total tackles and a whopping 88.5 sacks.
He sat out the preseason as he pushed to get a new deal, but given the way he’s always prepared, he will most definitely be ready to suit up and do his usual thing when the Steelers take on Justin Fields and the New York Jets in the season opener.
