The New York Knicks secured a very controversial win over the Detroit Pistons on Monday night, winning 113-111 right at the buzzer.
However, the Pistons are the worst team in the NBA and New York’s win over them brought up a troubling trend.
As pointed out by Legion Hoops, New York has a 23-2 record against teams that are below .500.
But when it comes to teams that are above .500, the Knicks are just 12-21.
That is a major concern for fans of New York, especially as the postseason rapidly approaches.

Obviously, the Knicks will have a lot of trouble in the playoffs if they can’t consistently beat teams with winning records.
Right now, they are trying to build a better regular-season record before the playoffs start.
But when they do, New York will face tougher teams and, more importantly, teams that have won a lot throughout the year.
If they aren’t able to defeat them, they will be pushed out in the opening round.
The Knicks are currently the fourth-best team in the Eastern Conference with a 35-23 record and are doing better than they have in years.
They have a deeper roster and Jalen Brunson’s leadership has helped tremendously, along with the additions of Josh Hart, OG Anunoby, Donte DiVincenzo, and others.
As of now, they are well-positioned to push into the playoffs.
If the postseason started today, the Knicks would play against the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round.
The 76ers are above .500 with a 33-24 record, which could be a big problem for the Knicks.
They still have several months to improve their game and build a better record against winning teams.
If they don’t, fans will be very nervous when the playoffs get started.
