Things keep going from bad to worse for the struggling New York Yankees.
After spending most of this season in postseason contention, New York has fallen flat.
Now, they are three games below the .500 mark at 60-63 and have little hope of a turnaround.
The offense has been the main culprit for the Yankees, who have now lost seven in a row.
Over their last four games, the Yankees have mustered only 17 hits as a team.
However, Seattle Mariners star Julio Rodriguez has been on an individual tear and has recorded 17 hits of his own over the last four games.
On Twitter, MLB Metrics pointed out this interesting statistic.

On one hand, this is a very impressive stat for Rodriguez, who continues to swing a hot bat and carry the Mariners as they climb in the Wild Card race.
On the other hand, it’s quite concerning for the Yankees, who are single-handedly being outperformed as a team by just one player.
As a result, the Yankees are eight games back in the Wild Card race.
The Mariners are currently in possession of the final Wild Card spot, and while they have been trending upwards, New York is trending in the opposite direction.
The offense has fallen flat, and the team is slipping in the standings.
It’s going to take a miracle for the Yankees to get back into contention, especially when Rodriguez is individually outperforming them.
We’ll see what happens down the stretch, but things aren’t looking good in the Bronx.
