A couple of weeks ago, the NBA community got a major scare.
San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich was excused after suffering an undisclosed medical issue, which was a significant concern given his age.
Now, the team has finally shared an update on his condition.
The Spurs released a statement to reveal that Popovich suffered a mild stroke early in November, which led to his indefinite absence from the team.

The stroke took place on Nov. 2 at the Frost Bank Center.
They added that the legendary coach has started rehabilitation and is expected to recover fully.
Nevertheless, they didn’t share any potential timeline for his return, so there’s no word about whether he’ll be back this season.
The stroke happened the day his team hosted the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Assistant coach Mitch Johnson was on the sidelines for that game, and he’s served as an interim coach ever since.
In the six games he’s been in charge, the Spurs have gone 3-3.
The 75-year-old Popovich is highly regarded as one of basketball’s greatest – if not the greatest – coaches.
He’s been in charge of the team for 29 years, leading them to 1,391 regular-season wins and 170 playoff wins.
Under his guidance, the Spurs have won five NBA championships in six trips to the NBA Finals.
Needless to say, basketball should be the last thing on his mind right now, and we wish him a speedy and full recovery from this health scare.
