The San Antonio Spurs gave the New York Knicks a run for their money at Madison Square Garden.
Gregg Popovich’s team fought hard to get back in the game every time the Knicks threatened to pull away, and the game eventually went down to the wire.
However, just when the visitors had a chance to force overtime, they were called for a five-second violation that pretty much sealed the 117-114 loss.
Evidently, there was some miscommunication between Jeremy Sochan and Keldon Johnson during the play, which is why the latter didn’t hesitate to take full responsibility for the loss after the game:
“Honestly, I mean, we won’t point the finger at nobody. If we’re going to point the finger — I’ll take the blame,” Johnson said. “I feel like — you know — I didn’t go as fast as I should on the play. I think it’s not on Jeremy [Sochan] because he was running the play. If anything, I take the blame. I take full responsibility for the play. You know, Jeremy did what he was supposed to do, and I messed it up. So, coming up straight, I take responsibility for that. I take accountability, and I’ll be better.”

There’s no point in pointing fingers, but it’s definitely nice to see a young player taking accountability for these sorts of things.
That’s leadership and exactly what you want to hear from one of your franchise’s building blocks.
The Spurs are a ways away from contention, but young guns like Johnson continue to make strides every day, and the future seems bright in Texas.
