Now that Kyrie Irving is officially playing for the Dallas Mavericks, the team is going to work hard at making it far in the playoffs and possibly even reaching the Finals.
But since this is Irving we are talking about, there is going to be controversy, rumor, and speculation about him.
Sure enough, just hours after he left the Brooklyn Nets for the Mavericks, people were already discussing what he would do after this season is over.
If he wanted, Irving could leave the Mavericks when this season concludes.
"If Dallas is willing to pay Kyrie Irving, if they’re willing to give him, essentially, max money on a multiple-year level, my bet is that’s where Kyrie Irving will be." (@wojespn)

But NBA mastermind Adrian Wojnarowski doesn’t think that’s going to happen.
“If Dallas is willing to pay Kyrie Irving, if they’re willing to give him, essentially, max money on a multiple-year level, my bet is that’s where Kyrie Irving will be,” Wojnarowski recently said.
If the Mavericks decide to extend him, he could be given a five-year, $250 million deal.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers would only be able to grant Irving four years and $120 million.
There are many people wondering if Irving will stick around in Texas or move west to Los Angeles to once again play with LeBron James.
Nearly all reports from inside the Nets front office said that he wishes to play for the Lakers but no one knows if that’ll ever happen.
The future of Irving in Dallas all depends on what happens in the next few months.
If the Mavericks become a much better team with Irving and find postseason success, they will likely pony up the cash to keep him around.
But if that doesn’t happen or if Irving creates headaches for them, you can expect Irving to continue moving west to his final destination in Los Angeles.
As we all know now, Irving brings a lot of positives and negatives to each team he plays for.
It’ll be interesting to see what he does for the Mavericks.
