A lot of discussion since the Denver Broncos cut Russell Wilson and decided to eat an NFL record $85 million in dead cap space has been around whether or not this was the worst trade in NFL history.
To recap, the Seahawks traded Russ along with a fourth-round pick to Denver for a 2022 first-round pick, a 2022 second-round pick, a 2022 fifth-round pick, a 2023 first, a 2023 second, tight end Noah Fant, defensive lineman Shelby Harris, and quarterback Drew Lock.
Denver also gave Wilson a five-year, $242 million extension before playing a snap, but Undisputed’s Skip Bayless still doesn’t believe it’s the worst trade ever, instead mentioning Brett Favre to Green Bay as the worst.
“The Falcons trading away and giving Brett Favre to Green Bay goes down as the worst trade in NFL history,” Bayless said.

Favre was traded to the Packers for just a first-round pick, where he would go on to win three MVP awards and a Super Bowl.
As great as Favre was, Bayless also detailed another trade that is often regarded as the worst trade ever: the Herschel Walker trade.
Walker was traded by the Cowboys to the Minnesota Vikings for three first-round picks, three second-round picks, a third, a sixth, and four players.
The Cowboys then used those draft picks to select Emmitt Smith, Darren Woodson, and Russell Maryland en route to winning multiple Super Bowls.
Walker played two and a half years for the Vikings and failed to rush for 1,000 yards in a season.
It’s too early to label the Wilson trade as the worst ever until it has more time to play out, but it’s hard to envision it ever having the damaging repercussions that the Walker or Favre trades had on their respective franchises.
Skip was right about this one.
