The Kansas City Chiefs couldn’t kick off their season on a high note, dropping their home opener to the Detroit Lions.
The Chiefs were undermanned on both sides of the field, and Patrick Mahomes struggled to find a reliable receiver.
Mahomes put his team in a position to get the job done for most of the game but to no avail.
However, Skip Bayless — who’s never been as high on Mahomes as the rest of the world — blamed him for the team’s loss, taking to Twitter to share some petty comments about the Chiefs star.
Wait, Michael Jordan Mahomes lost his home opener to … the Lions??? Did Mahomes ever miss Kelce. Did he ever throw a bunch of wild off-target passes as the game wore on and he got more and more frustrated. Even the last Toney drop was behind him.

Bayless called out Mahomes for throwing wild passes and clearly needing Travis Kelce on the field.
While Kelce’s absence was obviously a major factor, it wasn’t all Mahomes’ fault.
Kadarius Toney had three crucial drops, and he was to blame for Mahomes’ only interception.
The Chiefs offensive line also struggled to contain Aidan Hutchinson, who kept No. 15 on his toes for most of the game.
They also had a tough time against the run, which was far from a surprise, considering star DT Chris Jones is still holding out.
Also, the Lions executed their gameplan perfectly, and they also deserve a lot of credit.
These clearly aren’t the Lions of old, and they’re going to turn a lot of heads this season.
As for the Chiefs, they desperately need two of their best players back on the field as soon as possible.
