The NFL’s offseason has been filled with a lot of drama thus far, and a recent situation has only added fuel to that fire.
After taking over as the head coach of the Denver Broncos, Sean Payton has made several comments about the team’s prior leadership.
This includes Nathaniel Hackett, the Broncos’ coach, for just 15 games in 2022.
Skip Bayless quickly provided his take on the situation when these statements were made.
Regarding Payton’s candor about Hackett, Bayless said, “Surprised he ‘broke code,’ ripped fellow coach.
So Sean Payton blames Russell Wilson's struggles last yr on Nathaniel Hackett: "It might have been 1 of the worst coaching jobs in NFL history." Surprised he "broke code", ripped fellow coach. But he's clearly defending his new QB, rebuilding confidence … & building pressure.

Generally speaking, coaches around the NFL don’t make statements like Payton did.
They might talk negatively about their team’s performance or even an opposing team’s if they have done something drastic.
In recent memory, NFL fans haven’t witnessed a Payton-level outburst.
While Bayless was initially surprised by Payton’s comments, he provided a potential rationale for his thinking.
“But he’s defending his new QB, rebuilding confidence,” but also that Payton is “building pressure,” Bayless said.
The Broncos weren’t expected to play poorly in Russell Wilson’s first season on the team, but they fell a bit short due to multiple factors.
On the heels of their five-win season, however, Payton has quickly called out Hackett’s coaching as the primary factor for the team’s downfall.
Before joining the Broncos, Wilson was a perennial MVP candidate who was well-respected across the league.
Payton will look to get the team back on track this year, which starts with their quarterback.
Will he experience any fallout from his comments about Hackett’s coaching performance?
