The Minnesota Vikings have been a team looking pretty solid for most of 2022.
With so many stars on their team, it’s hard to say which one deserves the most credit.
However, Kirk Cousins‘ name is coming up in these talks, and some feel he’s an elite quarterback.
But are the views of these people correct, or is he just an average quarterback?
Cousins Is On The Cusp Of Greatness With Comeback Victories
To be an elite quarterback, one needs to show they are consistently good.
While Cousins hasn’t done that in the past, he’s making some good trends in 2022.
One of these good trends is his fourth-quarter comebacks and game-winning drives.
Five games this season have seen Cousins led his team down for a game-winning drive.
Kirk Cousins currently ranks 20th in passer rating, 23rd in QBR and 17th in EPA.
BUT…. he leads the NFL with *FIVE* 4th quarter comebacks.
My favorite part of 2022 Cousins: When things aren't going well, he seems to stay aggressive. Keeps firing it to Jefferson.

However, as Phil Mackey notes in his tweet praising Cousins and his comeback victories, there are other issues with him.
Cousins Falls Short With Horrible Play During The First Half Of Games
It’s hard to find an elite quarterback in Cousins when his statistics outside of the win column are awful.
With him ranking in the bottom half of the NFL’s starting quarterbacks in passer rating, QBR, and EPA, it’s hard to call him “elite.”
However, his issues are coming from him starting out poorly in games, but improving as the game progresses.
But it still doesn’t take away from the eight interceptions he’s thrown this season.
These mistakes take away from him making adjustments late in games.
It’s his defense that allows him to get those comeback victories, as they give him plenty of opportunities to win games.
