The Los Angeles Angels have lost a major opportunity this season.
Two-way star Shohei Ohtani is having one of the best seasons in MLB history and the team has nothing to show for it.
Ohtani has dominated all season long both at the plate and on the mound.
Unfortunately, he suffered an injury to his UCL that required surgery.
Now Ohtani will miss the rest of this season and will not be able to throw for a while.
According to Fabian Ardaya, Ohtani’s agent, Nez Balelo said, “I expect full recovery and he’ll be ready to hit without any restrictions come opening day 2024 and do both come 2025.”
Shohei Ohtani's agent, Nez Balelo, says in a statement that Ohtani underwent a procedure on his elbow today. Didn't specify what procedure.

Ohtani will be the talk of the offseason because he is set to hit unrestricted free agency.
Any team will be free to sign him and you can expect he will be looking at a record-breaking contract.
It will be interesting to see how this injury may affect his contract.
He will not be able to pitch all next season and that is a big blow to his value.
But Ohtani proved this year he is still one of the top hitters in the sport.
Ohtani will still be a sought-after free agent this offseason and most expect him not to return to the Angels.
Expect to see the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees make significant plays for Ohtani.
He is a once-in-a-generation player and can change the fortune of any team that signs him.
