Most old-school fans will agree that Michael Jordan is the greatest player to ever set foot on an NBA court.
That includes most of the players that came after him, with countless of them emulating every single one of his moves and gestures.
However, of all who tried, only Kobe Bryant came close to him, up to the point where you could argue that their game was virtually the same.
That’s why Shaquille O’Neal doesn’t want people to forget just how great Kobe was or leave him behind in the GOAT debate.

For years, most fans have talked about Jordan and LeBron James as the best players to ever do it, constantly snubbing Kobe from the conversation.
But truth be told, he was a much better defender than LeBron ever was and arguably a better or more versatile scorer — albeit less efficient.
Kobe also has one more NBA championship than LeBron, which should also lean the scale in his favor when discussing greatness.
Of course, James holds the edge over both Bryant and Jordan in terms of longevity and where he stands on the all-time lists, not to mention the fact that he’s arguably the most complete basketball player in the history of this beautiful game.
But at the end of the day, there might not even be a point in comparing players from different eras and different positions.
We should just be glad at the fact that we got to watch them both dominate and make history in this league.
