Even though his Cy Young year in 2020 was a shortened season, Cleveland Guardians ace Shane Bieber is one of the best pitchers in the game of baseball today.
That Cy Young Award was no fluke and Bieber is proving time and time again why he’s one of the toughest pitchers to face in all of baseball.
And on Wednesday night against the Texas Rangers, he made a little bit of history, picking up his 700th career strikeout.
Guardians reporter Mandy Bell sent out a tweet about Bieber’s accomplishment, mentioning that Bieber has done this in a total of just 93 games.
Shane Bieber has reached 700 career strikeouts in just 93 career games. That's tied for the second fastest since at least 1901 behind Yu Darvish (87 games).

Bieber Reaches Elite Mark
This quite an impressive accomplishment.
Bieber is tied for second fastest to reach 700 strikeouts since Yu Darvish was able to do it in just 87 career games.
That is some elite company to be a part of.
The Guardians won by a final of 4-0.
Bieber lasted just 4.1 innings due to a rain delay, but he still managed to strike out six batters and lead the way for the Guardians against the Rangers.
Bieber is a guy who knows how to pitch and knows how to win.
He can dominate on any given night and continues to prove why he’s one of the game’s best young stars.
And now he’s reached 700 career strikeouts.
To do it that quickly is amazing and goes to show how dominant Bieber can truly be.
He is the ace of this Guardians staff and is the guy that they can rely on when times get tough.
With the win, the Guardians reached the .500 mark and stayed within a game-and-a-half of the Boston Red Sox for the third American League Wild Card spot.
