After a disastrous 2022 NFL season, the Denver Broncos decided that some drastic changes needed to be made this summer in order to right the ship for 2023.
The Broncos thought that trading for superstar quarterback Russell Wilson was the right move last season, which would instantly get the franchise back in the title-contending conversation in the AFC.
However, Nathaniel Hackett turned out to be a bad decision for head coach, while Wilson seemingly lost a step or two, which ultimately led to Sean Payton getting hired to bring in a no-nonsense approach in order to get this team back on track.
Along with taking some shots at Hackett recently for his coaching last year, Payton has now zeroed in on Wilson, who he wants to stop caring about his public image so much, via B/R Gridiron.

Payton isn’t messing around this year as he’s decided not to go easy on Wilson, who is coming off the worst season of his NFL career.
It seems clear that Payton will make Wilson accountable for things he does on and off the field, which might be precisely what’s needed to get the one-time Super Bowl champion back to form as an elite quarterback in the NFL.
However, there is a chance that Wilson has passed his prime, and that could be a harsh reality for Payton and the Broncos.
If that’s the case, Wilson could be playing his last season for Denver as the team is likelier to stick with Payton over the aging quarterback, meaning this is the most important year of his career.
