The Denver Broncos should be in the mix for a quarterback in the offseason.
Regardless of a new report that states that Russell Wilson could be back next season, and even if he does, they had already benched him and put the word out there that they didn’t believe in him as their quarterback of the future.
Once again, even if he played well, he’s not exactly getting any younger, so they would be wise to pursue a long-term solution at the position.
However, as much as fans and analysts have speculated about the Broncos looking to trade up in the NFL Draft to get a quarterback, it seems they don’t know what they’ll do right now.
At least, that’s what HC Sean Payton told Broncos beat reporter Zac Stevens, stating that he doesn’t even know the jersey numbers of potential rookie quarterbacks because they haven’t even taken a look at them yet.
“Everything you’ve heard and read about us — ‘Oh, we’re going to trade up, trade down’ — I can’t tell you the jersey numbers of these rookie quarterbacks. We haven’t even seen them yet,” Payton said.

This could be fair, as the Broncos might know that they don’t have the draft capital to make a big move in the NFL Draft.
Then again, it’s hard to envision Wilson coming back next season, especially considering the way Payton has treated him since he was appointed as head coach last offseason.
Wilson hasn’t exactly been at his best since he left the Seattle Seahawks, but he could still have a new opportunity somewhere else.
As for the Broncos, they’re just a good quarterback away from being a legitimate threat out of the AFC West.
