The Denver Broncos will reportedly explore all their options at quarterback in the offseason.
That means they could even keep Russell Wilson for a little longer, although he’s already listed his mansion for sale, and all signs point towards his exit.
Still, the likeliest option seems to be taking a quarterback in the upcoming NFL Draft, and there’s no shortage of talent at the position.
Drake Maye, Caleb Williams, and Jayden Daniels all look like potential generational talents.
Then, there’s a bit of a talent drop-off, but there are at least three guys that could also be serviceable.
Notably, NFL insider Paul Allen reported that Sean Payton is ‘enamored’ with one of those (via Zac Stevens).
Apparently, Payton has already set their sights on Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy.

"A pretty reliable individual informed me over the weekend that [Sean] Payton is quite enamored with J.J. McCarthy.”

McCarthy led the Wolverines to the National Title, but he’s been a polarizing prospect for quite a while now.
While the upside is most definitely there, some think he doesn’t have as much potential as the top-three choices, not to mention the fact that he might need a year or two on the sidelines before being ready to contribute at the next level.
This also makes the assessment all the more complicated.
The Broncos could just stay put and hope he falls to their lap at No. 12, as some have projected him as a late-first-round pick.
Then again, there are more QB needy teams ahead of them in the draft, and other insiders have him going in the top 10, so this will be an interesting situation to follow.
