The Denver Broncos remain winless two weeks into the 2023 NFL season.
However, they were close in each game, having only lost by a total of three points.
Some adjustments on key in-game aspects can help them get over the hump.
That’s why head coach Sean Payton is simplifying the jargon they use to call their plays.
“We did it last night when we put the plan together. So, if a play [is] X Curl, Z Post, Y Shake, let’s call it and develop code names that help do that. That was last night,” Payton shared in yesterday’s press conference, via Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio.

Play-calling in the NFL is an interesting science because coaches use different words or terms to describe the same play.
Therefore, a trips left play for two teams might have varying code names or verbiage.
Getting lost in translation is what Payton is trying to avoid with his starting quarterback when he starts sending in the plays.
These small miscues can be the difference between winning and losing.
Broncos fans hope they will have a blemish-free play-calling process in Week 3 because they will visit the 2-0 Miami Dolphins.
Executing the right calls will be crucial in going toe-to-toe with Miami’s high-powered offense.
