The New England Patriots have officially transitioned into a new era.
With Bill Belichick and Mac Jones all but gone, Jerod Mayo and Drake Maye are running the show now.
While the former has received harsh criticism during his first year in charge of the team, the latter seems like a potential star.
That’s why Buffalo Bills HC Sean McDermott showered him with praise ahead of his team’s clash with the Patriots.
When asked about the rookie signal-caller, the Bills’ coach praised him for his instincts and his dual-threat skill set (via New England Sports Fellow):
“Very impressed. You can see a difference in their team since he’s taken over. Certainly mobile, knows where to go with the football. Just a two-dimensional type of quarterback,” he said.

Although Maye has yet to play against the Bills this season, they will see him often as they square off twice in the final three weeks.
Their first matchup will occur in a hostile environment for the UNC product, as the Patriots will hit the road to play at Highmark Stadium.
Needless to say, the Bills are heavily favored ahead of this matchup.
McDermott’s team has been on a tear on offense this season, putting up more than 40 points in back-to-back matchups.
Before he entered the league, Maye was compared to Josh Allen, at least in terms of their build and the fact that they were both raw.
Hopefully, the rookie will learn something from him when he sees him take the field twice in the next month.
