The Seattle Seahawks made a surprising overhaul of their quarterback room this offseason by trading Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders and replacing him by signing Sam Darnold to a three-year, $100.5 million contract and drafting his potential heir in Alabama’s Jalen Milroe with a third-round pick.
Milroe showed some flashes of his ability in the first two preseason games while operating as the third-string QB behind Drew Lock, but the team recently made a big announcement that will allow not only those inside the facility, but the fans to get a better look at Milroe before the regular season kicks off.
Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald shared that Milroe will start and play all of Saturday’s preseason finale against the Green Bay Packers.

Milroe has completed 9-of-15 pass attempts for 107 yards through two preseason games, while adding in another eight carries for 56 yards without any touchdowns or turnovers overall.
He is off to a nice start, but it will be fun to see what he can do when given the freedom to run through a full game’s worth of plays and watch how he’ll settle in when given more than just a few drives to make his mark on the game.
Some teams are using the final preseason game as a dress rehearsal ahead of Week 1 and playing all of their starters, but the Seahawks appear to be doing the opposite and using the game to get a better look at the backups and young guys.
Milroe can make a strong impression on this fanbase with a big performance on Saturday, and it will be fun to see how far along he is in his development.
