It’s the dawn of a new era for the Washington Commanders, and not just on the football field.
With Dan Snyder finally selling the team, there are plenty of reasons to look forward to the future of the organization.
But of course, none of that will matter unless they also do good things on the gridiron, and they may have taken the first step in that direction today.
Recently, HC Ron Rivera announced what most people thought was obvious, stating that Sam Howell will be the starting quarterback to begin the season.
With that in mind, the UNC product talked to ProFootballTalk about how determined he is and how much confidence he has in his ability to lead the team to success.
Sam Howell: I'm confident in my ability to lead the Commanders. https://t.co/kXWa5YKGSP

Howell entered the league with mixed reviews.
He was impressive numbers-wise during his days in college, and showcased an ability to make plays with his feet and hit receivers in stride with enough accuracy to thrive at the next level.
Then again, there were also some concerns about his height — or lack thereof — and footwork, and how his game would translate to an NFL-style offense, but he looked great in his lone start last season.
The Commanders seem to be fully confident in him as well, and he’ll have an interesting set of weapons at his disposal.
Add Eric Bieniemy pulling the strings of the offense to that mix, and Howell could end up being one of the best young quarterbacks in the game sooner rather than later.
