The Washington Commanders have a new starting quarterback in Sam Howell, who took over the job in Week 18 of last season, and overall, he hasn’t done too badly.
Through six games he has completed 67.8 percent of his pass attempts and thrown for 1,500 yards and nine touchdowns.
However, one negative thing that stands out is the fact that Howell has already been sacked 34 times, which is often a season’s worth of sacks for a QB1.
While Washington’s offensive line certainly has room for improvement, when Howell was asked by Kay Adams about all the sacks he has taken, he said it is ultimately on him to do better, via JP Finlay.

Adams pointed out that Howell is on track to have nearly 100 sacks for the season, which would be an embarrassing number if it ever came to pass.
Still, the Commanders are a surprising 3-3 right now, and their passing offense ranks in the middle of the pack in multiple categories.
Their next game will be against the struggling New York Giants, which will give them an excellent opportunity to give themselves a winning record.
However, Washington’s schedule will become more challenging afterward, as they will face the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles the following week, and they will have games against the Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins, and San Francisco 49ers later on.
