It’s not easy to thrive in the NFL.
So many factors have to go a player’s way for him to fulfill his true potential, and Sam Darnold might be the clearest example of that trend.
He went from being considered a bust to potentially breaking the bank in free agency, and he’s led the Minnesota Vikings to one of the single greatest seasons in franchise history.
On top of that, he’s on the verge of making history himself.

Darnold has been one of the most consistent quarterbacks in the league this season.
Some doubted his ability to keep this up after a strong start, but he’s proving this wasn’t a fluke.
He should draw more MVP consideration, and even though Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen have better numbers, the Vikings have a better record.
It’s crazy to think Darnold was a backup and an afterthought not long ago.
This speaks volumes about how coaching, a system, and an organization can make or break a potential star.
The New York Jets have had their fair share of miscues, particularly at the quarterback position.
Fortunately, Darnold is still young and will have more opportunities to realize the sky-high potential he showed at USC.
