The New Orleans Saints are a team that has made some drastic moves this offseason in order to get the franchise back on track in the post-Drew Brees era in the Big Easy.
With the team struggling over the past few years, New Orleans has brought in a new franchise quarterback in the form of Derek Carr, formerly of the Las Vegas Raiders.
Despite an ugly end to his time with the Raiders, Carr seems to be rejuvenated with the Saints and ready to get this team back to winning football games and competing for a playoff spot in the NFC.
Unfortunately for Carr and company, the team is dealing with some issues ahead of the preseason, especially in the backfield, with running back Eno Benjamin being ruled out for the season and star Alvin Kamara being suspended for the first three games of the regular season.
This prompted the team to bring in veteran running back Kareem Hunt for a visit along with linebacker Anthony Barr, with the consensus being they wouldn’t leave New Orleans without signing a contract.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, both players left the Big Easy without putting pen to paper, via Dov Kleiman.
Update: Despite previous reports about an expected signing, both RB Kareem Hunt and LB Anthony Barr left the #Saints without signing a contract.

With the running back headed to visit the Indianapolis Colts, the Saints may have lost the chance to sign Hunt, who would be the ideal replacement for Benjamin in the backfield and would’ve added to an already formidable offense in New Orleans.
Barr leaving town without a deal may also prove costly for the Saints, as the four-time Pro Bowler would’ve been a welcome addition to the defense.
It’ll be interesting to see what the team does now to pivot after two missed opportunities.
