The New Orleans Saints don’t want to take anything for granted with the season so close.
That’s why, according to Around the NFL, HC Dennis Allen has announced that Derek Carr and several starters won’t be on the field for their preseason finale.

Jameis Winston will lead the offense in the matchup vs. the Houston Texans, with rookie Jake Haener rotating in throughout the course of the game.
Carr looked solid in his lone drive vs. the Kansas City Chiefs two weeks ago, looking far ahead of schedule in terms of getting a hold of his new offense.
He’s adapted quickly to his new team, and some believe he could be in for an MVP-caliber season.
While Allen didn’t name anyone else, chances are that many other key starters will also be in street clothes during their final matchup of the preseason.
Alvin Kamara will miss the first three games of the season with a suspension, but he’s still expected to have a prominent role once he’s eligible to play again.
Even so, there’s a chance that coach Allen will give the perennial Pro Bowler some run in the preseason finale, so he can add some rhythm and shake off the rust while he gets ready to be back on the field.
There are high hopes and expectations for the Saints next season, especially considering how easy they should have it to win the division, so there’s absolutely no point in risking any of their stars at this point.
