Coming into the 2023 NFL Draft, the consensus was that former University of Kentucky star Will Levis would be one of four quarterbacks taken in the first round.
Unfortunately for Levis, he was the only one of the four that didn’t get taken until the second round, with the Tennessee Titans selecting him at No. 33 overall.
With the Titans having veteran quarterback Ryan Tannehill under contract, Levis will begin his NFL career learning from the veteran with no telling when he’ll get his shot to show what he can do at the next level.
Recently, Tannehill was asked about the Titans selecting Levis in the draft, and he seemed to duck the question by giving a generic answer that didn’t address the team bringing in a rookie quarterback until the follow-up question via Turron Davenport of ESPN.

Much like any veteran quarterback potentially on the downside of his career, it’s no surprise he’d feel threatened or at least an added pressure moving forward.
Adding a quarterback like Levis is a ticking clock for Tannehill’s time as the starter for the Titans unless he has a breakout year or leads the team to success in the playoffs.
However, the Titans are coming off a forgettable season where the team lost the last seven games of the 2022 regular season and ended their year with a disappointing record of 7-10, which was good enough to finish second in the AFC South division.
One thing is for sure moving forward, Tannehill will have no lack of motivation with Levis now in Tennessee.
