The St. Louis Cardinals got a chance last night to show off three of their five All-Stars.
And the Cards closer showed off his impressive fastball velocity, hitting 103 mph twice during his outing.
Through all of it, Helsley worked a scoreless inning.
Frank Cusumano of KSDK, a local news station in St. Louis, tweeted about Helsley and just how impressive he can be on the mound when he shows off his fastball velocity.
Ryan Helsley’s fastballs:
98,98,100,103,102,103,100, 98,102,102,101,98,and 99. It resembles a bad player’s golf scores. Gosh, is this guy special!

Bringing The Heat
As Cusumano said in his tweet, the velocity of Helsley’s fastballs is like a bad golf score.
But it just goes to show how deadly Helsley can be when he’s on the mound.
That fastball is devastating and bores into hitters.
For years, Helsley’s problem was his control.
Now, he has control over that fastball and uses it to blow away even some of the best hitters in the business, just as he did last night.
Helsley has taken the Cardinals closer job and run with it since the season began.
His velocity makes that fastball almost untouchable.
He truly is a special pitcher who can make an at-bat super uncomfortable for any hitter unlucky enough to step in the box while he’s out on the mound.
He put on a show with that fastball and showed exactly what he’s capable of and why it’s seemingly a done deal every time the Cardinals bring him into a game.
Now, we turn our attention to the second half, and you can bet the Cards will rely on Helsley heavily down the stretch.
