Once again, the Los Angeles Clippers fell short of expectations.
Tyronn Lue’s team was expected to make a run at the NBA Finals, and there was a point in the season in which they were the best team in the league by a significant margin.
Unfortunately, Kawhi Leonard’s never-ending injury woes got in their way in the postseason, and it’s come to a point where it seems like that’s just never going to change.
There have been plenty of rumblings about the team and what may and may not happen in the offseason, and that also includes Russell Westbrook’s future with the organization.
That’s why the former MVP took to social media to address those rumors and get ahead of any potential narrative, making it loud and clear that he was satisfied with his role and stating that he was looking forward to running it back next season (via Courtside Buzz).
“I’d like to share some of my actual thoughts to clipper nation and all of my fans. It’s a difficult time for a lot of people due to certain expectations that have been placed on them. Therefore, it’s understandable that there is pressure to plant stories or point the finger for what many would classify as a disappointing end to our season,” Westbrook posted.
Russell Westbrook posted this on his Instagram story tonight about him & the Clippers’ 2023-24 season… & also about rumors written about him:

It was a shame to see this team go out the way they did.
James Harden finally excelled in the playoffs, but Westbrook had a diminished role off the bench, and Paul George alternated good games with not-so-good ones.
It’s kind of ironic that, of the four Hall of Famers on the team, Kawhi is the only one who’s already won championships, yet he’s also the one who’s always missing when they need him the most.
The Clippers are now set to embark to Inglewood, hoping that their new arena will also get them over the hump once and for all.
