Russell Westbrook is one of the most controversial players in NBA history.
Playing for the Los Angeles Lakers drew plenty of negative attention his way, and his chances of turning the narrative around about him are slim at this point in his career.
Also, his shooting woes to start the season haven’t done much to help his case, either.
As pointed out by StatMuse on X, he’s gotten off to a tough start with the Denver Nuggets, shooting just 2-of-18 and 1-of-9 from beyond the arc.

The Nuggets are 0-2 to start the season, and they’ve looked far from the NBA championship contender they were supposed to be.
Then again, blaming Westbrook for the dismal start to the campaign would be unfair and insufficient.
As much as he hasn’t played up to his standards, Jamal Murray has also struggled with his shot, and the team clearly misses Kentavious Caldwell-Pope even more than they missed Bruce Brown before him.
Westbrook is, by all standards, a first-ballot Hall of Famer, not to mention one of the best players of all time.
His efficiency and decision-making have often led to subpar results in the past, but that doesn’t erase what he’s accomplished in this league.
Also, it’s not like he’s still making the top-dollar contract he had during his days with the Lakers.
We’re just two games into the NBA season, and it’s way too early to count him or the Denver Nuggets out, as tough as this start to the season might seem right now.
