When the Minnesota Timberwolves landed Rudy Gobert in a monster, jaw-dropping deal last offseason, they weren’t expecting him to be a three-point shooter.
In fact, throughout his career, he has made a total of zero threes.
At the same time, the team certainly wouldn’t complain if the big man started scoring from downtown.
A new video shared via ClutchPoints on Twitter shows Gobert on the court with some members of his French national team.
In the footage, Gobert makes two astounding half-court buckets to the loud cheers of his enthusiastic teammates.
Is Gobert about to be a three-point shooter?

Is this the year 'The Stifle Tower' makes his first career NBA 3-pointer?

That’s unlikely.
Gobert has never made a three-pointer in the NBA and he hardly even tries for them.
That’s because that’s not his role within the team.
Instead, he is supposed to get low in the post, block shots, grab rebounds, and make buckets close to the basket.
That is what he did last year with an impressive average of 13.4 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game.
Despite that, the Timberwolves were still far from the team that fans wanted.
After a summer with some believing they could reach the Western Conference Finals, they barely squeaked into the playoffs.
They were then easily eliminated in the first round by the Denver Nuggets.
Gobert is now preparing for the FIBA Basketball World Cup and seems to be having fun with his teammates.
While this video of him scoring threes is a fun watch, fans of the T-Wolves shouldn’t expect him to try this during the regular season.
