To say that Rudy Gobert is one of the least popular players in the NBA could be a bit of an understatement.
From his big contract to his alleged feud with co-star Donovan Mitchell, people have always had plenty of things to say about him, and not many of them have been good.
Current and former players have made fun of him and his contract, and some have gone as far as to call him ‘soft’ and overrated.
However, despite all the criticism he gets, Gobert seems to be quite a nice guy, as he showed by having a wholesome moment with a French fan in a wheelchair.

Truth be told, Gobert isn’t to blame for the mega contract the Utah Jazz signed him to.
He’s an elite rim protector and one of the best shot blockers in NBA history, and while none of that has translated into playoff success and he’s not exactly good at anything else, it’s not like he should’ve turned down the money to get a more realistic deal.
Also, the fact that the Minnesota Timberwolves were willing to give up that much to pair him with Karl-Anthony Towns speaks volumes of his potential impact on the game, so maybe it’s time he gets the respect he’s due.
He’ll look to earn that respect as he puts the French national team on his shoulders ahead of the upcoming FIBA World Cup, especially with Victor Wembanyama sitting out.
