There’s no NBA on right now, but the upcoming FIBA World Cup is just around the corner, and it might be one for the ages.
This edition of the tournament will have a plethora of NBA talent, even outside of Team USA.
Of course, they’re expected to lead their respective squads and take them to a whole new level, which is why the Dominican Republic brass was so excited to greet Karl-Anthony Towns to their team.

Towns has always been vocal about how proud he is of playing for the Dominican Republic, honoring his descent.
He’s coming off an injury-riddled season and wasn’t exactly at his best in the playoffs, but we’re still talking about one of the best big men in the league, at least offensive-wise.
The Dominican Republic won’t have an easy path, as they’ll have to go toe-to-toe against Italy, Angola, and the host, the Philippines.
Even so, one would expect to see them in the next round, especially with Towns taking care of business down low.
As for his future with the Timberwolves, that’s a whole different story.
The franchise has always been adamant about building around him, and even though there were reportedly some trade discussions, reports state that they set a very steep price for his services.
Even so, if Anthony Edwards continues his rapid rise to stardom and the Timberwolves continue to struggle with Towns and Rudy Gobert sharing the floor, they might reconsider their stance about him.
