The Minnesota Twins have an abundance of competent infielders.
They signed Carlos Correa on a long-term contract, they have Jorge Polanco currently on the injured list, and other talented infielders such as Jose Miranda, Alex Kirilloff, Edouard Julien, and more.
When it comes to raw talent, however, the best of them all (with the exception of Correa) might be Royce Lewis.
Lewis was off to a fantastic start last year when he tore knee ligaments and was deemed out for around 12 months.
That was crushing news, but just like he has done multiple times in the past, he showed the mental strength and will power to work his way back and return stronger than before.
After a successful rehab stint in which he hit .333/.371/.727 with four homers in eight games, he made his season debut on Monday against the reigning World Series champs, the Houston Astros.
In the top of the third inning, Lewis belted a three-run home run that scored Kirilloff and Correa.
In the bottom of the seventh, Jose Altuve put the Astros on top with a grand slam, but Lewis had a say in the final result a couple of innings later.
In the top of the ninth, he singled to center field, bringing Kyle Farmer home with the tying run.
The Twins would go on to win it in the 10th, in large part thanks to Lewis’ triumphant return.
"I wanted to be up there in the 9th and I knew I was going to get the job done."

It was a dream return for the oft-injured prospect against one of the best teams in baseball, at their home, and after months of watching everybody else from the trainer’s room.
Lewis remains incredibly talented.
Hopefully injuries give him a fair chance.
