The Chicago Bears will be one of the must-watch teams in the NFL this season.
That was the expectation last year, but it wasn’t always a nice view.
Quarterback Caleb Williams didn’t live up to the expectations as one of the most hyped No. 1 overall picks in recent history.
However, he wasn’t the only one to blame for Chicago’s offensive shortcomings.
That’s why fellow second-year pro Rome Odunze doesn’t understand where all the criticism is coming from.
The young wide receiver recently called out the media for its treatment of Williams.
“I don’t know man, y’all gonna have to tell me. Y’all write the stories on that boy. It comes with the No. 1 pick, I would say. He’s himself, at the end of the day. That’s just kind of the light we were put in. In Chicago sports, wanting success and wanting it now, they expect a lot from their sports teams. We’re in that light. He gets a lot of hate for those reasons, but he comes in and works hard. I think we’re gearing up for a good year,” Odunze said.

This goes back to before Williams was the top pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
His demeanor rubbed some people the wrong way, and the way his father handled his pre-draft process didn’t do much to help his cause.
Nevertheless, it’s never wise to give up on a player after just one season.
Of course, that’s a byproduct of expectations, but it’s not like Williams is a lost cause by any means.
If anything, the Bears didn’t do much to put him in a position to succeed.
Head coach Matt Eberflus had already raised major doubts about his ability to lead a team, and the Bears’ offensive woes ran way deeper than quarterback.
Now, Williams will have a chance to grow under new head coach Ben Johnson.
With an improved offensive line and a strong supporting cast, the QB could take a leap in his second season.
