It’s been a while since the NFL has given its MVP award to someone other than a quarterback.
Though running backs Derrick Henry and Saquon Barkley are having MVP-caliber seasons, that streak will most likely go on for a little longer.
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was being penciled in as the odds-on favorite to run away with the award.
Over the past couple of weeks, however, that sentiment has changed.
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is leading the league in almost every relevant stat, taking his game up a couple of notches from his two previous MVP seasons.
That’s why former Ravens star Rod Woodson said he believes Jackson has earned the award.
“It’s no question in my head. Lamar Jackson is the MVP,” Woodson said, via TMZ Sports.

Woodson’s words have to be taken with a grain of salt, as he’s likely biased in favor of a fellow Ravens great.
Jackson has been on a tear all season, but saying it should be a clear choice, that’s a bit of a stretch.
The Bills have a better record than the Ravens, and that’s despite Baltimore arguably having the better supporting cast.
This should be a close race with a photo finish, and you couldn’t go wrong with whoever you choose.
Perhaps Allen and Jackson will end up sharing the award, as it would be a shame to see either of them miss out on it.
