The New York Jets have one of the best running back duos in the league.
Breece Hall was on pace to run away — no pun intended — with the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award before suffering a season-ending knee injury, but he’s now back to full strength.
On top of that, they added Dalvin Cook to their RB room, which is perhaps the best insurance policy one could think of.
With that in mind, HC Robert Saleh told the media that he plans to be “smart” about Hall’s return, letting it be known that he plans to feature both backs in Monday night’s season opener vs. the Buffalo Bills (via Ian Rapoport).
#Jets coach Robert Saleh tells reporters that while RB Breece Hall won't practice today, it's merely a maintenance day. Hall and Dalvin Cook will both play in the opener and the team will be smart with Hall in his return.

Hall didn’t practice on Monday, but it was just a maintenance day to make sure he’s healthy and fresh for the opener.
It’s hard to think of a better RB tandem in the league right now.
Cook was coming off four straight 1,000-yard seasons before being released by the Minnesota Vikings.
And while he’s struggled with injuries throughout the course of his career, having him next to Hall can help keep them both on the field for the long run.
Cook is far from done in this league, and he’s still young.
And while Hall should be the featured and No. 1 back as the future of the team, Cook could and should still have a prominent role in the offense.
It’s Super Bowl or bust in Gotham, but they still need to prove that they can be as good as everybody thinks they’ll be.
