The New England Patriots made a surprising decision when they fired Jerod Mayo.
It’s not that there weren’t more than enough arguments to do so.
However, the fact that they didn’t even wait until Monday to do it was somewhat odd.
With that in mind, team owner Robert Kraft addressed the media to discuss the situation.
Notably, the mogul took the blame for the whole thing, stating that he had put his beloved pupil in a tough position.

That might be the case.
However, it’s not like Mayo did himself any favors with how he handled himself or coached the team.
The Patriots needed someone to build and develop a winning culture within the organization again, and he didn’t always look like the right guy for the job.
Moreover, the rush to get him out of there might also mean they have an ace up their sleeve.
Most insiders and reports state that they have set their sights on Mike Vrabel who’s eager to return to coaching and has strong ties to the organization.
The Patriots will have the No. 4 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, a selection that will help them build around Drake Maye, who looked like a potential franchise quarterback in his first year with the team.
Adding Vrabel and spending all their money wisely could propel this team back into contention in no time.
That might not have been the case had they chosen to keep Mayo around for a little longer.
