The Tennessee Titans have struggled to find consistency at the quarterback position for several years.
Ryan Tannehill held it down when he was under center, but after a few years, it was clear that he wasn’t what they were looking for as a long-term solution.
Cam Ward could be their solution, the 2025 No. 1 draft pick who dazzled at Miami.
Ward has a rushing upside that Tannehill didn’t possess, and his arm talent is also strong.
Fans are cautiously optimistic that he can help turn this organization around, and this optimism also extends to some of the top analysts around the league.
Robert Griffin III, for example, was complimentary of Ward after seeing his first preseason game, noting that his gunslinger tendencies were on full display.
Griffin also mentioned that he thinks Calvin Ridley is in for a big season, believing he and Ward will be a dynamic duo from the jump.
“Cam Ward went 5-8 for 67 yards on the stat sheet, but the film review showed he was his calm confident gunslinger self. Ward consistently got to the top of his drop and knew where he was going with the ball. One thing is for sure, Ward and Ridley will have a big year,” Griffin wrote.

Ridley is slated to be WR1 in this offense, and after watching some of his highlights with Trevor Lawrence in Jacksonville, there’s plenty of reason to believe that this pairing could amount to big things.
It might take a few years for the Titans to right the ship, as these things tend to take time, but if the 2024 Washington Commanders taught NFL fans anything, the right quarterback can solve a lot of wounds and frustrations.
Only time will tell if Ward can be that type of player in this offense.
Thankfully, with the season starting in a few short weeks, we don’t have to wait long to see how he’ll perform against the league’s best.
